Sona in trouble with income tax authorities
December 31st, 2008
Sona is to open a large showroom in Chennai. She's under the eagle eye of the income tax authorities.
Sona has done glamour roles in'Kuselan,' 'Mirugam, ''Adaikalam' and 'Pathu Pathu.' She is also acting in some Malayalam films. She's to open a mega showroom of fancy jewellery on coming 9th. It is said Shilpa Shetty is to inaugurate the showroom so Kodambakkam is surprised that Sona, who has not earned much over her small roles, is in a position to open such a huge showroom.
This has caused raised eyebrows about where she could have got so much money. On their part, the income tax authorities are also doing some snooping and keeping Sona under their observation.
Others say they are hardly surprised over Sona opening the grand showroom and have reams to talk about how she could afford it, hinting at shady activities. Said to have good 'friendship' with industrialists, she is reported to have earned such large sums of money.
Less offers as Vadivelu hikes his fee
December 31st, 2008
The frog begets misfortune through its own talk. The elephant throws mud on its own head. This holds good for Vadivelu too.
Vadivelu was an office boy in Rajkiran's office before he entered films as a comedian. His body language, dialogue delivery and Madurai slang elevated him to being "Vaigai Puyal". By sheer hard work, he has come up, but he himself seems to be the villain to his success.
Five years back, after his market picked up,he changed his fee to so much per day. From thousands, his fee escalated to lakhs. From 'Imsai Arasan, 'he started charging 8lakhs per day for shooting. If he gives his complete call sheet for a film, he's demanding 3 crores for a film now. Like this, Vadivelu has earned exorbitant fee in some films.
When Marimuthu, director of 'Kannum Kannum' told him a story,Vadivelu agreed to act in the film. After dragging the director around for 2 months and bugging him to make umpteen changes, he suddenly said he could not act in the film. The reason was his fee. When he asked for 5 crores, the producer was shocked. And dropped him from the film.
If Vadivelu is paid 8 lakhs a day and his shooting is over in 2 tracks over 2 days, the fee would be 16 lakhs only given to him. Some producers say even this leads to tangles.
After acting for just 2 hours, Vadivelu is said to escape from the spot. Because of all these matters, many directors hesitate to approach him.Right now, Vadivelu has only 'Villu' on hand. If he does not change hispolicy, Vadivelu will be in dire straits next year!
Ghajini and Mumbai terror attacks’ effects on Sadha
December 31st, 2008
Quite perplexing, isn’t? What has Aamir’s Ghajini and Mumbai terror got to do with Actress Sadha. Well, of course there is more relevance as couple of her Hindi flicks got delayed on its releases. At the moment, she has completed shooting for Hindi movies ‘Khalbali – Fun Unlimited’ and ‘Click’. These films were supposed to hit screens somewhere in December. But unfortunately, Mumbai terror attacks on Nov 26 and Ghajini’s worldwide grand release gets her films hitting screens delayed.
Why hasn’t she got any offers in Tamil? ‘Of course, I had many offers’ prompts Sadha who continues, “Busy with my Hindi projects, I had no options other than refusing the best opportunities”. Also she has started shooting for her other Hindi movie ‘So Kicchadi’ that has no clues about who’s there on title cards.

December 31st, 2008

Kanal Kannnan, the stunt choreographer for the movie, says this particular stunt scene involved too much risk but Suriya managed to pull it off with relevant ease just like a professional stuntman. Appreciating Suriya for his daredevilry, he added that the stunt has come out great and would prove a highlight of the film.
Starring Suriya and Tamannaah, Ayan is one of the most eagerly-awaited films of 2009. K.V. Anand introduces Akashdeep Sehgal (as the villain) in Ayan and promises his role will be as slick as Prithviraj’s role in Kana Kanden.
5 Sizzling Hot Babes of 2008
December 31st, 2008
Every year sees the rise and fall of many heroines. Sometimes the status quo remains the same and at other times, surprises are thrown up at the end of the year. 2008 saw the entry of many hopefuls; a few got entry into the exclusive club of main heroines, while others had to be satisfied with second heroines roles and hoping to graduate to the next level (of main heroine). So who were the top 5 Telugu heroines of 2008?
1. Trisha
She stayed on top this year, both in Telugu and Tamil films. Starting off the year with Bujjigadu opposite Prabhas, Trisha is signing off the year with Nagarjuna's King, both of which have proved to be major hits.
2. Genelia
Genelia, who wowed audiences in Santhosh Subramaniam and Ready, has crossed the Vindhyas to star in the multiplex hit Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (Hindi). With her slim figure and expressive eyes, she's the darling of the masses. Her Sasirekha Parinayam opposite Tarun, showcasing her liveliness and little-lost-girl appearance, will cement her position as a top heroine in 2009 as well
3. Anushka Shetty
Anushka Shetty came third with her kitty full of hits. Opening the year with Okka Magaadu (mega hit), Swagatham had a tepid response at the box office, Sowryam established her as sensuous sex-bomb and Chintakayala Ravi was the cherry on Anushka's cake as she was cast opposite superstar Venkatesh. Anushka's awaiting the release of the heroine-oriented Arundhati in which she has a double role.
4. Ileana
Ileana, who sizzled in Jalsa opposite Pawan Kalyan, conquered male hearts with her innocent portrayal of a runaway Juliet in Bhale Dongalu. Though she took a sabbatical and went home to Goa, she was back with a bang, signing up four movies: with Vishnu Vardhan (Saleem), Nitin (Local) and two other untitled flicks, which are due for release in early 2009.
5. Nayantara
Nayantara comes fourth because Kathanayakudu, one of her biggest releases, did not fare well at the box office. And close on its heels came Salute starring Vishal which is more remembered for its provocative poses than the performances of its lead actors. Still, Nayantara remained in Telugu audiences' minds as a sizzling hot heroine. She has recovered lost ground admirably by signing a film opposite young hunk Jr. NTR, who is the spitting image of his grandfather, the legendary Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.

Asin says no to Vijay!
December 30th, 2008
Asin, basking in the success of Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’, has reportedly turned down the offer to act in Vijay’s 50th film, ‘Vettaikkaran’. Earlier, there were reports that Asin had agreed to act in the AVM film for a fee of Rs 2 crore, the highest remuneration ever offered to a south Indian actress.
Asin is busy with her second Bollywood film, ‘London Dreams’, with Salman Khan. Though the reasons for her refusal to act in the Vijay film is not known, it is reported that she is being flooded with big offers in Bollywood. Another reason was that the ‘Ghajini’ team had barred her from taking up Kollywood films before the release of the Hindi film, it is heard.
It was Ilaya Thalapathy who had decided on Asin as the heroine for ‘Vettaikkaran’, as he hoped the film would repeat the success of ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Pokkiri’, in which they were paired. An upset Vijay is now reportedly trying to rope in Anoushka, the stunning beauty who debuted opposite Madhavan in ‘Rendu’.
