Officials in the district were given advance information including the district Collector. Soon after coming to Sadasivapet, Mr. Mohan Reddy visited Kambalapally and Suraram villages and interacted with beneficiaries. Some of the beneficiaries informed the Minister that they could not lay slab as the amount released by the government was not sufficient to the house they constructed. Instead, they laid tiles and asbestos sheets on the top. As a result their bills were not sanctioned by the department as having slab on the top was mandatory for getting the bills sanctioned. The Minister assured to take up the issue to the notice of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He said that the ultimate aim of the government was to see that everyone should get a pucca house. Criminal cases Admitting that the system of work inspectors was not functioning properly in the department, Mr. Mohan Reddy said that those who were delivering the goods would be retained by the department. “We will not hesitate to register criminal cases against those responsible for corruption and against those beneficiaries who got the bills sanctioned but the houses were not constructed,” he said. The Minister also inquired about improper implementation of the scheme at Zaheerabad and Narayanakhed areas. Housing Principle Secretary Samuel, Managing Director Reddy Subrahmanyam, Executive Director Munindra and Housing District Manager Vijaya Lakshmi accompanied the Minister.
