The controversial pictures of Nayanthara and Simbu came out which he admitted that he was responsible for leaking the pictures out to the press. He also said that he had more to offer and that he would let it out it at the right time. For a while there has been no news making us think that he is at peace with himself.

Both Simbu and Nayantara somehow make it to headlines no matter how docile they are. But then, can both be docile for long….probably not. Both are made for making waves in their respective films. After high intensity spotlights were beamed on them with regards to their alleged love affair and then the alleged break-up, things got too hot for comfort. Grapevine has it that Simbu and Nayantara are now in a patch-up mood.

According to sources, both met in a party at a star hotel in Chennai recently, where their ’broken hearts’ yearned for some glue to do away with the crack. It is said that Simbu, who came to the party hall to meet his friend actor Vishal was surprised to see Nayantara there, along with Trisha.

He reportedly enquired about the actress and her forthcoming films for which his pair in the film ’Vallavan’ reportedly answered with a smile. It is also said that Nayantara too inquired eagerly about Simbu’s future projects. It may be recalled that in a recent hunger strike conducted by the Tamil cinema industry, Simbu and Nayantara were seated next to each other. The pair attracted all eyes towards them though they did not speak a word with each other.

Cheer for PR on symbol issue

EC gets 3 weeks to pass fresh orders

HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam leaders were relieved when the A. P. High Court on Friday sent back to the Election Commission of India the issue of allotment of a common election symbol with a direction to the EC to reconsider the matter.

The Bench comprising Justice B. Prakasa Rao and Justice Bhavani Prasad was disposing of on Friday a writ petition filed by PR complaining against the EC’s action in refusing to allot a common symbol – railway engine.

The High Court directed the EC to reprocess the PR’s application in the light of the observations made in earlier judgments.

It granted three weeks time to the EC to pass fresh orders. Similar order was given in favour of Mana Party of Kasani Gnaneswar which filed a separate petition for allotment of symbol.

Appearing for the Praja Rajyam, Vedula Venkata Ramana said the EC had allotted a common symbol to the Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) under similar circumstances but was refusing to treat his client in the same manner. According to the rules governing the allotment of symbols, a political party would get a permanent symbol based on the votes its candidates poll in the general elections preceding the application.

These rules did not contemplate a situation where a political party which had a massive following and a huge membership comes into being between two general elections and makes an application for a common symbol. Mr. Venkata Ramana lamented that the purpose of fair, dynamic electoral process would be reduced to a mockery if a major political party is refused a symbol.

Special Correspondent adds: The state election machinery headed by Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao is reportedly “inclined” to make a positive recommendation for such allotment if and when the EC seeks its opinion, sources said.

Will of the people

The CEO, the sources added, is inclined to see the reason in the PR argument on the ground the popular following enjoyed by the PR represented will of the people, big or small, and this could not be reflected through votes properly unless a common symbol was granted.

PR confident on common symbol

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi expressed confidence that the Election Commission would allocate a common symbol for their party candidates across the State in the general elections.

He was reacting to the High Court’s observation that the EC could reconsider the party’s application seeking a common symbol.

“We were not very worried. However, we do know that a common symbol will make things easier for the voter,” he said.

Thota Chandrasekhar, PR’s Coordinator (Membership Drive), said they had initially represented to the EC seeking a common symbol and constantly kept updating information about the party’s membership till mid-January, when it touched 50 lakh. He said that according to rules, a registered party should garner six per cent of votes and get two of its leaders elected to the Assembly. “Without an election, we could not show people’s acceptance of our party. So we had to keep the EC informed and provide proof of our membership. And then we moved the High Court, citing precedents of the Telugu Desam Party getting the cycle in 1983 and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi that was allotted the Ambassador car in 2004,” he said. Meanwhile, the Political Affairs Committee of the party met for the first time on Friday.

genelia

genelia

Hyderabad January 3, 2009

Genelia is happy with the kind of appreciation she is getting for her role in Sasirekha Parinayam. She shared her happiness in chitchat with the media. Here are the excerpts -

Tell us about Sasirekha Parinayam? Sasirekha Parinayam is a special film to me. I am really to do the character of Sasirekha. I would have definitely got jealous if this character was given to some other girl.

Tell us about Krishna Vamsi? I was cautioned by many well wishers that Krishna Vamsi is an egoistic director to work with. We started the shoot on 24 May. After working with him I realized that he is an encyclopedia when it come to films. He is extremely knowledgeable and the best part about him is that he shares his knowledge with everybody. He has got an eye of detailing. There is one particular scene in the film which explains his level of detailing.

The scene includes Sasirekha coming out of the bath room and gets surprised by looking at the new cloths put on the bed. As an actress I would have come out of bathroom and look at the cloths. But Krishna Vamsi narrated the sequence to me like this – Sasirekha comes out of bath room. She feels little cold in the room. She searches for the switch panel and then reaches over there to put off the fan. Then she slowly goes towards bed and notices new cloths.

Tell us about working with Tarun? He is a brat. He has neither airs nor attitude. Most importantly he does not suffer from insecurity complex. He is a nice guy to work with. He is a cool guy who went with the flow of the film.

Do you prefer Telugu or Hindi now? Language is never the barrier or deciding factor for me. My movie life is surrounded by Telugu film industry. It was Telugu cinema that gave me chance to perform. I had been in Telugu films for the past six years. I made some mistakes by accepting bad films. But the people of Andhra Pradesh did not give up on me. I owe it to them. Telugu was and always will be the first priority to me.

What is the difference between Genelia and Sasirekha? Genelia thinks where as Sasirekha reacts on instincts.

Which is your favorite scene in the film? The drinking scene

Which is the most difficult scene for you to perform? The auto scene towards climax. I was very nervous to do that scene.

Did you dub some parts of this film? It was done during the spot dubbing. Krishna Vamsi decided to retain my own voice for some of the scenes.

Do you really climb down the building in the film? Yes. That’s too without any ropes. I also jumped into middle of the sea without any dupe. I am basically an athlete.

You did not wear make-up for certain scenes. Were you comfortable? Yes. I had to look natural in this film. I had freckles on my face and they are visible without make-up. But it’s natural for most of the girls to have freckles. I enjoy putting on make-up for commercial films as well. And I don’t mind doing films like Sasirekha Parinayam without make-up.

Did you complete your studies? Yes. I am fond of studies. I completed my Bachelor in Business Management while working for films. There were times when I had to work in night shoots at Hyderabad till 5 am, then take a 7 am flight to Mumbai, attend the college, take 3 pm flight back to Hyderabad. And my degree helped me managing my career. I feel that both films and studies are equally important.

What is your dream character? I never wanted to be an actress. I became actress by chance. Hence I enjoy each role I do. So each and every role I choose is like my dream role.

Chiru tour boosts party leaders’ morale

Chiru tour boosts party leaders’ morale

NIZAMABAD: The four-day road shows of the Praja Rajyam party chief Chiranjeevi from Februarty 1 to 4 in the district boosted the morale of the party leaders and activists as there were milling crowds everywhere along his route from Baswapur to Sadasivnagar where he concluded the tour.

Youth, particularly students ran along his convoy in frenzy and girls, women and housewives welcomed him with cheerful faces standing rooftops. Happiness writ large on their faces as soon as they saw the matinee idol turned politician and lustily waved hands. On the first and second days the road shows were successful more than the expectations of the PR functionaries. In the Kamareddy, once the strong hold of Telangana Rashtra Samithi the Ganj was packed with people waiting to have the glimpse of megastar.

Praja Rajyam begins exercise to revamp party in Krishna

Praja Rajyam begins exercise to revamp party in Krishna
Vedavyas may contest from Machilipatnam Assembly seat

Candidate belonging to SC or BC may become convenor

Followers of Vedavyas in upbeat mood

VIJAYAWADA: In the wake of Kesineni Srinivas (Nani)’s controversial exit, the Praja Rajyam Party has initiated efforts as part of a damage control exercise to revamp its organisation in both urban and district units.

Going by sources in the party, it is almost certain that district convener Muthamsetti Vijaya Nirmala will resign to the post in tune with the recommendation made by the disciplinary committee. The reason for her being asked to step down is not exactly known, but the party leaders say that the top leadership wants to remove any scope for others to accuse them of promoting a particular caste. The new district convener will most probably be an SC or a BC. If the party leadership chooses an SC, the chances are in favour of G.V. Prasada Rao hailing from Nandigama area.

A retired deputy commissioner of commercial taxes, Mr. Prasada Rao is a strong aspirant for the PRP ticket from Nandigama Assembly constituency reserved for the SCs.

The PRP is also considering Yanamala Murali Krishna, a BC, for the district convener’s post. The party leadership is still undecided on the issue of filling the vacant post of urban convener after the ‘dismissal’ of Mr. Nani.

In view of the dust raised by him, the PRP is keen to avoid any further controversy arising out of new appointments. It is looking for non-controversial leaders who can take along with them party leaders and activists from all sections of society.

Meanwhile, the followers of Malleswaram MLA Buragadda Vedavyas, who joined the PRP from the Congress on Thursday, are in an upbeat mood. His entry has boosted the morale of the party . Mr. Vedavyas is expected to choose Machilipatnam Assembly segment for his electoral aspirations, as Malleswaram segment.
