Nothing to do with Satyam: Reddy

PRP plea Praja Rajyam City Committee leader Thadi Manohar Kumar has demanded an inquiry into the Satyam scam and provision of job security to employees. He also said that the government should take back the lands allotted to the company. He even wanted that irrigation projects awarded to Maytas be withdrawn. But YSR THE CM SAYS Nothing to do with Satyam: Reddy Special Correspondent HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said that he has nothing to do with the scam-ridden Satyam Computer Services Limited. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Chennai on Friday, Dr. Reddy said CID was conducting an independent probe into the financial fraud in Satyam. Amid the increasing accusations from the Opposition parties in the State that the government knew about the scam, the Chief Minister said CID has been asked to inquire into the fraud admitted by the Satyam Chairman B. Ramalinga Raju. “A DIG rank officer has been entrusted the task of inquiring into the fraud,” he said and added that the government was also examining the functioning of Maytas Infrastructure. The firm has been allocated a series of irrigation, road and buildings works in the State, apart from the Machilipatnam Port works. ‘Unfortunate’ Asked whether the government was planning to withdraw projects awarded to Maytas, Dr. Reddy said: “We are valuating it as everything happened in the last two days.” He termed the Satyam crisis ‘unfortunate’ and pointed out that none had expected such a thing to happen. Queried if the government was planning a bailout package, Dr. Reddy said the Centre was looking into the issue.
