‘Cheating aspirants will cost Praja Rajyam dear’

‘Cheating aspirants will cost Praja Rajyam dear’ Staff Reporter

Kakinada: Scores of activists of the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) staged a demonstration at Tuni on Saturday in protest against the rejection of their leader Dadisetti Raja’s candidature for Tuni Assembly constituency here on Saturday.

Some of them threatened to commit suicide by dowsing themselves with kerosene but their attempts were foiled by the police.

The agitators contended that Mr. Raja’s services to the party were ignored in order to accommodate the official nominee Rongali Lakshmi and warned that the PRP would have to face the consequences of cheating the aspirants.

Sidelining of committed leaders was bound to spoil the PRP’s chances of victory where the battle would be against six-time TDP MLA Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Raja Ashok Babu of the Congress. Meanwhile, the PRP district office here remained locked for nearly four days due to fear of attacks.
