KCR or Vijayashanti from Medak

KCR or Vijayashanti from Medak
‘Emergence of Third Front will help Telangana cause’

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has declared here on Thursday that either he or film actress Vijayashanti would contest the Medak Lok Sabha seat.

Addressing a meeting of party workers from Sangareddy in Medak district at the TRS office, Mr. Rao described the Medak Parliamentary constituency as a prestigious seat in the country since it had returned former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the past.

Mr. Rao said he expected the grand alliance comprising TRS, Telugu Desam and Left parties to bag 95 to 105 Assembly seats in Telangana. The alliance would form the government in the State, paving way for formation of Telangana State.

The emergence of the third front in Bangalore during the day with several national parties as constituents was another positive development for separate Telangana. The front would definitely achieve the demand. When the State was indeed formed, a Scheduled Caste leader would be the first Chief Minister and a member of Muslim minority would be Deputy Chief Minister, he added.

Mr. Rao asserted that he would not give tickets in elections this time round to people who deceived separate Telangana movement. He cited as example the incumbent MLA from Sangareddy, T. Jayaprakash Reddy, who recently joined the Congress after having won as TRS candidate in 2004. Instead, he would prefer candidates who were willing to make sacrifices.

The TRS chief was shouted down by supporters of Tula Uma, a ticket aspirant from Korutla Assembly constituency in Karimnagar district, as he was leaving after addressing the meeting. The mob became restive as Mr. Rao refused to give them a hearing and instead proceeded to his car.

Sensing danger, Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao rushed to the car and jumped into the rear seat even as the vehicle safely steered past the angry mob.

Telangana songs

Earlier, Mr. Rao arrived at the TRS office to a rousing welcome by cultural artistes and supporters clad in fancy dresses. The artistes danced and sang Telangana songs.
