Hyderabad January 3, 2009

Genelia is happy with the kind of appreciation she is getting for her role in Sasirekha Parinayam. She shared her happiness in chitchat with the media. Here are the excerpts -

Tell us about Sasirekha Parinayam? Sasirekha Parinayam is a special film to me. I am really to do the character of Sasirekha. I would have definitely got jealous if this character was given to some other girl.

Tell us about Krishna Vamsi? I was cautioned by many well wishers that Krishna Vamsi is an egoistic director to work with. We started the shoot on 24 May. After working with him I realized that he is an encyclopedia when it come to films. He is extremely knowledgeable and the best part about him is that he shares his knowledge with everybody. He has got an eye of detailing. There is one particular scene in the film which explains his level of detailing.

The scene includes Sasirekha coming out of the bath room and gets surprised by looking at the new cloths put on the bed. As an actress I would have come out of bathroom and look at the cloths. But Krishna Vamsi narrated the sequence to me like this – Sasirekha comes out of bath room. She feels little cold in the room. She searches for the switch panel and then reaches over there to put off the fan. Then she slowly goes towards bed and notices new cloths.

Tell us about working with Tarun? He is a brat. He has neither airs nor attitude. Most importantly he does not suffer from insecurity complex. He is a nice guy to work with. He is a cool guy who went with the flow of the film.

Do you prefer Telugu or Hindi now? Language is never the barrier or deciding factor for me. My movie life is surrounded by Telugu film industry. It was Telugu cinema that gave me chance to perform. I had been in Telugu films for the past six years. I made some mistakes by accepting bad films. But the people of Andhra Pradesh did not give up on me. I owe it to them. Telugu was and always will be the first priority to me.

What is the difference between Genelia and Sasirekha? Genelia thinks where as Sasirekha reacts on instincts.

Which is your favorite scene in the film? The drinking scene

Which is the most difficult scene for you to perform? The auto scene towards climax. I was very nervous to do that scene.

Did you dub some parts of this film? It was done during the spot dubbing. Krishna Vamsi decided to retain my own voice for some of the scenes.

Do you really climb down the building in the film? Yes. That’s too without any ropes. I also jumped into middle of the sea without any dupe. I am basically an athlete.

You did not wear make-up for certain scenes. Were you comfortable? Yes. I had to look natural in this film. I had freckles on my face and they are visible without make-up. But it’s natural for most of the girls to have freckles. I enjoy putting on make-up for commercial films as well. And I don’t mind doing films like Sasirekha Parinayam without make-up.

Did you complete your studies? Yes. I am fond of studies. I completed my Bachelor in Business Management while working for films. There were times when I had to work in night shoots at Hyderabad till 5 am, then take a 7 am flight to Mumbai, attend the college, take 3 pm flight back to Hyderabad. And my degree helped me managing my career. I feel that both films and studies are equally important.

What is your dream character? I never wanted to be an actress. I became actress by chance. Hence I enjoy each role I do. So each and every role I choose is like my dream role.
