VISAKHAPATNAM: Mega star and Praja Rajam party founder Chiranjeevi will turn his public meeting at Ramakrishna Beach in the city on Sunday afternoon into a ‘fishermen’s conference’.

Announcing this at a news conference here on Saturday, PRP Vizag convener Ganta Srinivasa Rao said Chiranjeevi will take a helicopter at Rajam in Srikakulam district to arrive at Gangavaram fishermen’s village near here around 1 p.m. on Sunday. He would meet the fishermen who have pitched a tent in the village pressing for their pending demands for the last 64 days and express solidarity with them.

“From Gangavaram, he will arrive by the same helicopter at RK Beach to address the public meeting around 3 p.m. Fishermen leaders including president of all-India federation Panji and elders from the community irrespective of their party affiliations from the five north Andhra districts will attend the conference and move several resolutions some of which would be adopted in PRP election manifesto,” he revealed.

After the meeting, Chiranjeevi will return by flight to Hyderabad in the evening.

Some of the issues the conference would discuss include Scheduled Tribe status to fisherfolk and facilities to them on the coast on par with tribals in the agency region, special package during the annual ‘ban period on fishing’, trawlers for fishermen to improve their income, cold storage, marketing and other facilities.

YDERABAD: Six months after actor-turned-politician K. Chiranjeevi made public the formation of Praja Rajyam, the party announced its State committee with five vice-presidents and 11 general secretaries.

Also, a 14-member Political Affairs Committee, a 9-member committee for administration, four spokespersons and 9 working committees, said spokesman P. Mitra at a press conference here on Saturday.

A total of 47 people were named.

Political affairs committee members are former Union Ministers P. Shivshankar and P. Upendra, Ch. Harirama Jogaiah, Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao, Kala Venkata Rao, Yelamanchili Sivaji, former IAS officer KSR Murthy, Katti Padma Rao, MP C. Ramachandraiah, Gyanendra Reddy, Devisetty Srinivas, Kanakarao Madiga, Rajamouli and Ramachandra Naik.

While C. Nagaraju, a staunch aide was named treasurer, the vice-presidents include former police officer C. Anjaneya Reddy, Reddaiah Yadav, Puttapaga Radhakrishna and Khaleel Basha. The general secretaries include Dr. P. Mitra, Tammineni Seetaram, Sobha Nagi Reddy, P. Vinay, Jalli Siddayya, Kamineni Srinivas, Arunatara and Vanga Geeta. One vice-president and two general secretaries are yet to be named.

The State committee for administration has four general secretaries: Allu Aravind (Administration & Planning), Parakala Prabhakar (Media Relations), K.V. Rao (Presidential Affairs) and K. Kanna Babu (Coordination & Public Relations). Kumar Koneru and Srinath were named president’s secretaries, with Radhakrishna as office secretary, apart from two secretaries, Vikram (Research & Planning) and M. Satti Babu (Media).

Spokespersons

The four official spokespersons include P.L. Mahender, Goka Sridhar, Vasireddy Padma and Gowtham.

Of the 9 working committees, the heads of three of them were named on Saturday.

They are Harirama Jogaiah, former IAS officer Thota Chandrasekhar and Gangayya Naidu.

Women’s panels

Also, Mahila Rajyam committees were announced in six districts including Anantapur, Guntur, Nellore, Nizamabad, Kadapa and Medak with Meda Anuradha, Siva Nagendram, Eswaramma, A. Amrutha Latha Reddy, Latha Reddy and Kasani Manjula, as convenors, respectively.

Former legislators S.A. Rahaman and PGVR Naidu (Ganababu), executive member M. Srinivasa Rao, were present.
