PR will provide security to women: Pawan Kalyan

KARIMNAGAR: Yuva Rajyam president and film star Pawan Kalyan on Thursday urged upon the youth to shun eve-teasing and respect the womenfolk for the wellbeing of the society.

Launching his third day’s yatra by addressing a massive youth convention in Karimnagar town, he said that the country which respects the women would definitely progress on all respects. Referring to the acid attack episode on Swapnika in Warangal district, he said that the women have no freedom in the State.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, who said that the country would secure Independence only when women walk freely in midnight, he said that presently the women were unable to walk freely in the broad daylight. “The Praja Rajyam party after attaining power will provide security to the womenfolk to at least walk freely in the daylight,” he noted. He said that the ACB authorities were catching only small officials neglecting the corrupt politicians, who were resorting to extortions and making huge wealth after attaining power. He alleged that the Congress symbol was empty hand and it would not give anything to the people.

TIRUPATI: Indrasena Reddy, the lead character of the film “Indra” that shot megastar Chiranjeevi to fame and further into the political arena, reappeared on the Kuppam soil after a gap of eight years, much to the amusement of the public.

Film buffs know that the crucial scenes in the film “Indra”, including the climax, were picturised in Kuppam, but not many are aware that Mr Chiranjeevi opened up, for the first time on his entry into politics, in this town, during an interview while shooting for the film in 2001.

He recalled that he had said that time would decide his future course of action and that no force could stop his entry into politics if it was destined. During his road show on Thursday, Mr Chiranjeevi reminisced the day when he kissed the soil on his return to Rayalaseema in the movie and said it was an “unforgettable moment” for him.

As Kuppam has a sizeable chunk of Tamil and Kannada-speaking population, given its proximity to the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka border, Mr.Chiranjeevi greeted the public with “Vanakkam” in Tamil and “Namaskaragalu” in Kannada.
