Nayantara dubbed to stardom in Tamil

Nayantara dubbed to stardom in Tamil December 27th, 2008 Realizing that even Nayantara's dubbed films do wonderful business in Tamil film industry, filmmakers have started dubbing all her famous Telugu movies! No wonder Nayantara is referred to as the "numero uno" actress! Only a while ago, it was decided that Dubai Seenu - starring Ravi Teja and Nayantara in the lead - would be dubbed in Tamil as Dubai Rani. And the news made Nayantara's fans in Tamil Nadu go crazy with joy. The frenzy doubled with the producers' claim that Nayantara takes glamour to new heights in this film! Now, Supriya Combines will soon dub Nayantara's Yogi (which did very well in Andhra Pradesh) in Tamil as Murattu Thambi. Prabhas is the hero. A remake of Kannada super-hit Jogi, the film is about how a common villager turns into a saviour for the downtrodden when he arrives in a big city for a livelihood; upset by a humiliating incident, he kills a local don and eventually becomes a protector of the weak and innocent from the local mafia. Nayantara, playing a journalist in this film, personifies glamour. The film also stars Kota Srinivasa Rao, Ali, Sharada Urvashi, Pradeep Rawat, and many others. Music is by Ramana Gogula. V.V. Vinayak is the director. Nayantara, who has not had any Telugu films on hand for over a year is starring in Junior NTR's upcoming film. She replaces Ileana, who is resting after a bad sprain that she sustained during the shooting of the Nitin-starrer, Local. As she was not able to give dates for Junior NTR's film, V.V. Vinayak and the producer Vallabhaneni Vamsi decided to replace her. Nayantara has good chance to reach the top spot in Tollywood with this film. Supriya Combines aims to release Murattu Thambi in January 2009.
Tollywood Artistes Scared For Heros On Off-Screen December 27th, 2008 In Tollywood films, heroes often fight for the downtrodden. But off-screen Tollywood is a hierarchy-ridden world where small-time artistes swallow insults and pull on. Bollywood actor Neetu Chandra’s complaint that she was harassed by Tollywood actor Dr. Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha on the sets of Satyameva Jayathe is just one instance of this. Earlier, Mohan Babu was accused of slapping his son’s heroine Shilpa Sivanand. There are awful tales about director Teja too. Regarding Neetu’s case, the veracity of the allegation is yet to be ascertained, but the fact remains that middle-level actors rarely come out with such complaints since their survival is at stake.Neetu’s allegation: She was roughed up by the star couple Dr Rajkashekar and Jeevitha who threatened to kill her after she expressed her inability to work because of illness. But there is deafening silence from the industry. Why are people in the industry scared of taking a stand? Milind Soman, who is also playing a role in the movie, says, "I will definitely take a stand for her. But first I need to clarify both the sides of the story." He adds that he had been treated well by Dr Rajasekhar and others. . "But that is probably because I am not new in the industry," he points out. Soman adds that he has worked even when he was sick since he knows that deadline is a very important thing in the industry. "And secondly an actor needs to be interested in the project and work hard for it," he says. "I have always been treated like a queen," says actress Trisha. "I have worked with the best of people in the industry, being in the top league, I haven’t faced any such harassment. Had I been in the same project with Neetu, perhaps I would have taken a stand, but one has to be present at the time of the whole incident to know both sides of the story." She advises newcomers to choose the people they are going to work with carefully.Trisha, an accomplished actress, points out that there are deadlines and pressures in every job. "Everybody has to work hard to meet the deadline. Sometimes you have to work without breaks because of bad weather. You can’t crib over it because the entire crew is working hard." Celebrity stylist Jayati Bose also points out that one cannot complain about health when he or she is working outdoors which costs a fortune. But one wonders if a top actress would have been meted out similar treatment if she was fever stricken. Quite probably, the crew would have waited for her to recover.
Vijay’s assent to Silambarasan’s director December 26th, 2008 Silambarasan’s Silambattam is doing good business all over and needless to say the crew is on cloud nine especially director Saravanan. Special shows have been arranged for almost all popular heroes who have praised the director and hero’s work. He has also accused Thanigaivelu, a cinema financier for assisting Bharathi in this attack. But after hearing the case thoroughly, the police inquired Bharathy and Thanigaivel. They told that Velraja had taken a huge sum of Rs.75000 for his personal use. However he did not return the amount to Thanigaivel, who had given the entire amount. Shriya Did Not Attend The New Year Celebration December 26th, 2008 Aftermath of the Mumbai carnage has led to drastic changes all over the country and its influence has fell upon the entertainment quotient too. Female stars in the cinema are now reluctant to perform stage dances during the New Year eve due to security reasons. The ritual of hiring top heroines for shows during party nights on the day has been in vogue for a long time. Remunerated with a huge sum of money by the star hotels, they never had any complaints till now. But, the recent wreckage of Taj, Oberoi and Trident in Mumbai has sent a chill down their spines. Due to security issues, some hotels have suspended their plans to host New Year celebrations. Yet, many are planning to as it’s a source of considerable income from these functions. Participants of 2007’s celebrations, actresses Shreya, Sadha, Meghna Naidu, Mallika Kapoor, Samiksha, Charmi, Pooja Gandhi along with many other heroines have now said a definite no to attend such events this year. Manoj Kumar, manager said, “A slew of heroines participated as guests in last year’s celebrations. I personally arranged the dates for them. But, this time no one has turned up. Along with the terrorist attacks, people who attend the parties behave indecorous as they feel the heroines are being paid by them. Such issues has refrained the stars from being a part of these parties.”
Nayanthara Happy For Her Complaint Turns Favour December 26th, 2008 Nayanthara’s appeal to the Nadigar Sangham came out in her favour. Now, it looks like the adjudication to take place on the 30th of this month (filed by Linguswamy) by the Producer’s council will also come out in her favour. It will be recalled that the actress filed a complaint against the producer and director. In her complaint, Nayan stated that she waited for Payya to hit the floors for three months after being paid an advance of Rs. 15 lakhs. Payya failed to commence as its male lead Karthi was held up with his project Aayirathil Oruvan. In Nayan’s complaint to the Nadigar Sangam, she had stated that she was blackmailed by the producers that the film’s shooting would commence only if she agrees to reduce her salary. The actress said that she wasted three months of time waiting for the film to commence and she would return the advance amount only if she is duly compensated. Now even the Producer’s council is likely to rule in favour of Nayan since many call sheets of actors are wasted by producers and directors who book them and block them in the peak season. The actors say no to other projects, to find out in the end that the project they signed for will be very delayed or cancelled. If the producer then asks for the advance back -though it is no fault of the actor-what then happens to the time the actor sacrificed for the project?
ManiRatnam Impressed With Aishwarya Rai For Her Language Spoken December 26th, 2008 Against popular conception regarding Aishwarya Rai being nothing but just a gorgeous face, director Mani Ratnam is too impressed with Ash’s histrionics. The director has been bowled over by much more than just Mrs Bachchan pretty frame.Working with the green-eyed lass for his next directorial venture tentatively titled ‘Raavan’, the director is all praises for his lead heroine. Besides her acting talents the director is much to impress with Ash’s impeccable dialogue pitch.Apparently the flick is Ratnam’s bilingual project and will be made in Hindi and Tamil. What’s interesting is that Aishwarya will be dictating dialogues in the Tamil version too. And that’s not all, Ratnam was so impressed by Ash’s Tamil enunciation that he has decided to retain some of her Tamil dialogues in the Hindi version of the film too.A news daily even quoted a source as saying, “Though Aishwarya has done Tamil language movies (Iruvar, Jeans) it has been many years since she has spoken the language. Mani was definitely prepared that the shooting might go slow due to this, but Ash has pleasantly surprised everyone. She is so fluent with the language that shooting has been a cakewalk for her. Mani is shooting the Tamil and Hindi version simultaneously and the process is on at quite a rapid pace.” Well, it seems Aishwarya is all beauty and some brains too.

The actor has now got an official site for himself, and he is available in the plenty on the site www vishalblog com. There is also a tagline accompanying the site which says ’My World My Blog’. Incidentally there is a promo of the site available with Vishal on it, but on first look at the promo, Vishal looked as if he was an Australian aboriginal going out for hunting. On closer observation one could notice that the Bermudas he was wearing were indeed designer wear, and what looked like a bow was the water skiing board. The site actually has some exclusive photographs of his upcoming Tamil film Thoranai. The exclusive initial picture has Vishal in Lord Krishna’s attire and standing alongside him was Shriya. Incidentally it is here that Vishal sports a bow. Symbolically (Please understand) the entire backdrop of the site is black with orange fonts. It is very interesting to see this brand building effort from Vishal. Mamta Mohandass Chilling Out With Her Family In Bahrain December 26th, 2008 After doing two big films like Chintakayala Ravi and King, Mamta Mohandass has taken a break to spend some time with her family in Bahrain. “I am chilling out with my family,” says the actress, who is keeping her fingers crossed, awaiting the response to her Movie King. She was happy about sharing screen space with leading stars like Venkatesh and Nagarjuna, but intends to cut down on two heroine films. “I just thumbed down a two-heroine film since I want to do solo heroine films,” says the actress, who shared screen space with Anushka and Trisha in Chintakayala Ravi and King respectively. It seems that the svelte actress has seen through the game plan of top filmmakers who signed her for a two-heroine film promising a solo role in their next film, but that ‘next’ film never happened. Once bitten, twice shy. Right, spunky actress?

Simbu’s Silambattam Join The “Kings Of Box Office” List Of 2008 December 25th, 2008
Of late, Silambattam has been a major cause of traffic jams in some parts of the city! How?! Venture out on the roads abutting the theatres where it is screened and you will know! It looks like all the crowds of Chennai are at the theatres playing Silambattam! This movie has been receiving an astounding audience response and it looks like it will soon join the “kings of box office” list of 2008! Inside, you would hear all sorts of chaotic expressions of joy. People love it, especially the songs, stunts, and the “Simbuisms”. One should look at the audience reaction to the songs to believe it! ‘Nalamthana’, ‘Vachikkava’, ‘Where is the party’ seem be everyone’s favourites! Simbu plays two roles in this film: a strong-willed villager and a demure lad who turns violent in the second half. Though audiences enjoy both parts equally, the “villager” seems to more preferred by the public! Surprisingly, though the “demure-boy-turned-macho-man” character has the best songs and dance sequences, yet the other character has left a deeper impression on the audiences’ minds. The reason? They have not seen Simbu in such a mature character before - we just have to stop at that to avoid leaking the plot! And Simbu’s Billa getup is a bonanza! Heroines: Simbu’s heroines are always a topic of discussion just like the Bond girls, and they have an exotic aura, e.g. Yana Gupta and Mandira Bedi. The trend continues in Silambattam too - a wonderful beauty Sana Khan has been introduced in this film. Plus we have Kollywood’s “Mona Lisa” - Sneha, the lady with a beautiful smile! Both these girls walk away with your hearts despite their abbreviated roles and outfits!Clearly, Silambattam is another feather in Simbu’s cap!Simbu probably sustained more injuries while attempting those acrobatic dance steps than in stunt sequences! Watch out for those incredibly nimble dance steps! Great!
Vijay’s Vettaikaaran Team December 25th, 2008 Putting widespread speculations to rest, Vijay’s Vettaikaaran seems to have finally decided on its lead ladies. Yes you heard it right. If sources close to the Vettaikaaran team are to be believed, the movie could well have two heroines - Anushka and Tamanna. Anushka has already paired up with Maddy for the average grosser Rendu while Tamanna is slowly catching up on the big league with her upcoming release Ayan where she is cast opposite Suriya. Vettaikaaran is produced by AVM Balasubramanian and directed by Babu Sivan, the erstwhile assistant director of Dharani. Ravivarman wields the camera. Vettaikaaran is slated to go on floors after Vijay’s commitments with Villu are over.
Trisha Travelling In Exclusive Chartered Flights December 25th, 2008 We have seen top political dignitaries, business tycoons, travelling in chartered flights but actress Trisha joined this exclusive band recently. No, she neither has joined politics nor has she become a corporate honcho - rather she flew from Chennai to Vijayawada on a chartered flight to inaugurate a showroom in Vijayawada and flew back in the same aircraft. She was accompanied by her mother and manager on the 2 hour 40 minute trip for which the organisers emptied their pockets without blinking! Recession? Where? “She has been paid a bomb,” confirms a reliable source. However, her manager Giridhar denies and says the pay packet was ’reasonable’ though he admits that they did fly down for the event and it was the first time for Trisha. According to our sources, barring Vijayashanti, no other actress had enjoyed such a luxury Not even heroes! Taking a cue from it, we’re sure other popular heroines like Anushka, Charmme and Bhumika are likely to follow suit. Quite a possibility as proprietors looking for star appeal are willing to shell out big bucks. Celebrity endorsements come with a price tag. Right Trisha?
Nagarjuna’s Never Seen Before Performance In KING December 25th, 2008 With this year coming to an end, all eyes are on yuvasamrat Nagarjuna and his upcoming venture ’King’ that has been setting up a lot of expectations. The film is all set to hit the screens and now there is an update that has just arrived and this has soared the temperatures even further. If news is to be believed then the film’s last thirty minutes are going to be really exciting and director Vytla has come out with a very spellbinding climax. It is heard that Nag has been seen in a never before performance for the climax and basically, the ending will be positive just like any other Vytla movies. Nag is pairing up with the petite beauty Trisha and there are about three roles that he would be seen in. The other highlight apart from the second half is the special song featuring eight beautiful heroines and having seen the stills, it must be said that the number seems to be worth every penny.

Hansika Motwani to celebrate New Year in New York December 24th, 2008 Gorgeous Hansika Motwani said, “Touch wood I am on a hat trick,” who is determined to offer variety to the audience and promises a swashbuckling role in her next release Maska. “Definitely it will be different from my earlier roles since I dislike repeating myself,” says the actress, who portrays ’contrasting’ shades in the much-awaited love story.” Surprisingly, she played a young sanyasin in her Tollywood debut Desamuduru. “Initially, I did have a few apprehensions but I trusted director Puri Jagannath and it paid off,” she smiles. Going a step ahead in her other film Kantri she proved her midas touch. “I loved playing the magical role since director Meher Ramesh is one of the members of our gang comprising of Puri and Bunny,” says the starlet. Personally could she relate to these fantasy roles? “Not at all. I am not superstitious. For instance, after a couple of accidents during Maska, my mother has been forcing me to wear a sacred black thread but I haven’t agreed to it,” she giggles. She describes Junior NTR as a “decent co-star” and Ram as a “true professional” to halt questions on her relationship with her co-stars. “She is a dermatologist and despite being a single parent she brought us up with great love and understanding,” she tells. “My closest friend is Rithu and I am celebrating New Year with her in New York,” reveals the actress, who hasn’t come across flirts. “Probably I don’t give out those vibes,” she smiles. The starlet, who comes across as a sensitive and pragmatic girl is nevertheless, a bit superstitious about one aspect. “I have plenty of offers but I don’t want to talk about it since I lost 10 projects by revealing them before they were finalized,” she chuckles.
South Indian Heroines Favorite Relaxation Therapy December 24, 2008 The favorite relaxation therapy for many in South Indian Celebrities seems to be the Kairali massages. Many heroes and heroines adopt this to relax and also to get the benefits of toned skin.Keeping that aside many actresses are getting calls from Kairali massage centers to endorse their business. Already Trisha endorsed a Kairali center earlier and the videos of the same are seen in youtube as well. Now other heroines are also getting such calls and we have to see who will take the place.
Sindhu Menon makes her comeback with Eeram December 24th, 2008 Well, it’s been talks and talks about Director Shankar as he is presenting three films simultaneously. With the filmmaker earnestly treading with his magnum opus ‘Endhiran’ with Rajnikanth-Aishwarya Rai leading roles, he is producing two films. As known earlier, one of the film ‘Rettai Suzhi’ that has veteran ace directors Bharathiraja and K. Balachandar on lead roles. It all happened as once K. Balachandar had uttered during the occasion of Kuselan’s audio launched that Bharathiraja is his close friend. It shot the idea into the minds of Thamira who earlier penned dialogues for most of the films of K. Balachandar. Balachandar has already acted in his own films ‘Kalki’, ‘Poi’ and more than couple of small screen serials. Perhaps, it’s not about this film we’re getting on with and this is all about Eeram. This is another film produced by Director Shankar under the banner of ‘S’ Pictures with Arivazhagan wielding megaphone for it. The film has Mirugam fame Adhi and Nanda donning lead roles. Sindhu Menon who earlier performed cameo roles in Samuthiram starring opposite Murali in female lead and Bharathiraja’s Kadal Pookal makes her comeback with this film.
Kasthuri Returns in Kollywood December 24th, 2008 A beautiful actress who paired up with leading actors of previous decade had to put an end to her career after her marriage. One of her last film was pairing up with Kamal Haasan as his sister in Director Shankar’s ‘Indian’. And after a long sabbatical interval, the actress is back in town signing up continuously for couple of projects. She is performing one of the heroines’ roles in Director Selvah’s Nottruku Nooru. Already actress Sneha and Sandhya have been finalized on the list of title cards. Apart from this, she would be donning the role of Nagendra Prasad’s wife role in ‘Kadhal 2 Kalyanam’ directed by Milind Rau. The film produced by Mirchi Films featuring Arya’s brother Satyan and Divya Spandana in lead roles.
‘Aarmugam’ to be completed soon One of the ace filmmakers in town, Suresh Krishna has been treading with his present project ‘Aarmugam’. The film has Bharath and Priyamani in lead roles with Ramya Krishnan performing a prominent character. What’s so special about the film is that it’s a joint venture of unsuccessful personalities in film industry. Earlier, Suresh Krishna had witnessed more flops in his previous directorials; Bharath and Priyamani haven’t been fetching successful cards. And now, they are on their speculative show. Deva scores music for the film and according to Suresh Krishna, songs have been off a great style. Earlier, both of them had churned out a blockbuster ‘Baasha’ starring Superstar Rajnikanth in lead role. But it was so disappointing to see that Suresh Krishna himself partially remade in Tamil with Vijayakanth titled ‘Gajendra’.
Navya longs for a windfall in 2009 It is a fact that 2008 was not a good year for Navya Nair in Malayalam. Though she had only one film in her mother tongue so far (Kavyam), directed by Anish Varma and Santhosh starring Sureshgopi in the lead, Navya Nair was lucky in bagging more opportunities from other languages, especially Tamil and Kannada. This year, she signed three Tamil films (Aadum Koothu, Sila Nerangalil, Rasikkum Seemane and Raman Thediya Seethai) and two Kannada films (Gaja and Namma Yejamanru). After going through a stiff time in Malayalam so far, Navya seems to be back with a big banner film Calendar opposite Malayalam superstar Prithviraj. Navya is presently on the sets of Calendar, directed by debutante Mahesh, planned as a hilarious comedy and slated for a Vishu release. Navya is also the heroine of another Malayalam film Violet, starring Sureshgopi in the lead. Expected to hit the theatres in the beginning of 2009, Violet has completed the shoot for its first schedule. Navya has also bagged a meaty role opposite Sarath Kumar in an untitled Tamil movie directed by Sanjay Ram. This movie will also have Mammootty in a prominent role. Let's hope 2009 will be a better year for Navya Nair in Malayalam.
"Nayan MMS clip morphed" Shaji Kailas, the busy Malayalam director, has made it clear that no journalist had the right to wreak havoc by deliberately playing up fake MMS-s. He was speaking at a press conference held recently in Chennai to celebrate the success of his Tamil film, ‘Ellam Avan Seyal’. An MMS clip, allegedly showing Shaji and actress Nayantara in compromising positions, "was available on the Internet as well as on the cell phones". Shaji said that the MMS clip was a morphed one. If it was just a rumuor, he "would have forgotten and forgiven it", but he "cannot forgive someone who has done it with an ulterior motive".
