HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi has declared that his party would give never-before recognition in all sectors to the neglected ‘Arya Vysya’ and Brahmin communities and specifically in proportion to their population share.

He addressed a moderate gathering of the two communities at separate meetings on Sunday and said the PR held both classes of people in high esteem for their contribution to society.

At the ‘Arya Vysya Chaitanya Sadassu’ earlier in the day he spoke of the golden age during rule of the ‘Guptas’ and how from then on, even till the modern age, the Vysyas were being neglected. He cited the names of Mahatma Gandhi and Potti Sriramulu and of their pioneering contribution to society as a whole.

Referring to their abysmally-low percentage of Vysyas in Assembly and Parliament, he said the PR would give them a chance at their representation in proportion to their population.

Later in the evening, he addressed an impressive gathering at the Brahmana Chaitanya. He recalled that right since Adi Sankara, to Tanguturu Prakasam who bared his chest and braved the British bullets and down to former Prime Minister, late P.V. Narasimha Rao, the community’s contribution could not be ignored. Referring to earlier speakers, he agreed, saying it was unfortunate that a government did not allot land in the national capital for a memorial to a man like Rao, who ushered in reforms in the country.

Mr. Chiranjeevi promised that the PR would give Brahmins, the special recognition they deserved.
